Mac Bay will be banding geese on June 21st. We will probably start somewhere on the Grand River and move South to the Holland area. We are always looking for volunteers, as the more we have the smoother the process goes. If anyone is interested I will send more info as it comes in.
Tom, as soon as I get any information I will pass it on to you. Right now the only thing I know for sure is it will be on June 21st. We have to scout to find groups of bandable birds. If you can have anyone that sees groups of geese locally let me know. We band in the latter part of June due to the fact the geese are in the molt and have lost their flight feathers and can not fly. Makeing our job a little easier.
In regards to goose banding on June 21. Please keep your eyes open for areas North of Holland that have geese roaming around. Ecspecially areas where there are young birds. You can post the info on the sit for us.
[s ize=4][/size] Tom, I have finally got all the info from the DNR. we will start at Windmill Island about 7:30 on Sat. When we are done there we will move to Riverside Park on the Grand. From there we will move down to the launch by Stearn's bayou. Should be done by 1 pm. Sorry I couldn't get this to you sooner, but you can still pass it along on the Sat. show.
